Another Article

Many thanks to Medscape for publishing yet another article(with pictures this time) about solo practice by yours truly:
My Waiting Room
Look at the third picture carefully and see if you can see someone small and cute peeking around the edge of the wall.

I saw the cute little doggy, but you have to maximize the screen to see him/her. It is really nice that you put so much thought into your patients comfort...probably why you are a successful "solo doc".

I can't thank you enough for not having blaring televisions and constant stimulation in your waiting rooms. One of my biggest pet peeves (and I have a lot) is places that are designed around the assumption that people need absolutely constant audiovisual stimulation and will not know what to do with themselves if granted a few minutes of peace and quiet. My airport (Seattle-Tacoma) has essentially noplace to sit without being bombarded by televisions. As I'm frequently stuck in the airport for interminable hours and usually already stressed out and frustrated, I find this pretty well intolerable. See if you can find a consulting job, maybe?

excellent! I didn't think of the waiting room before. Ours is right in line with yours. I like the idea of the noise machine - I get a lot of comments from patients that the music "puts me to sleep" or "put on some AC/DC instead." (I have calming piano music) But knowing my patients, they'll prob'ly complain about the crickets too! ;)
