In Case You Were Wondering
For anyone following major league baseball who might have thought Manny Ramirez's explanation of his recently disclosed use of human chorionic gonadotrophin ("a medication, not a steroid, prescribed by a physician for a personal health issue") was legitimate, allow me to point out that there is no medical indication for prescribing hCG to a male that cannot be more safely and effectively treated with other agents.
Luckily, not many people seem to be buying it.

You are just so suspicious...
Hello - hCG? Did you ever think that maybe he could be pregnant? I notice he wears his shirt a bit loose....Could he be hiding a baby bump? Hmmm...
Or maybe he's just trying to stop that irritating testicular shrinkage!
Or maybe he's trying to stimulate ovulation. Yeah, that's the ticket!
Why would he need to take hCG if he's pregnant? Perhaps if he were a habitual aborter? (Still, don't you use progesterone for that?) Poor thing. You're right. I'm so insensitive. How many miscarriages has he had? It must be so hard for him. Especially in that locker room. What must he be feeling in the shower, seeing all those other giant bellies (that we've all been attributing to beer; silly us!) all around him. When will it be his turn??
I think I'll send him an e-card. Would that make up for my thoughtlessness?
So what would it do for him? Make it so he doesn't have to shave so often??
